GIS Day is November 18 As successful as this event was during its debut last year, it promises to be bigger and better this year. Hosted by GIS Day is a global event which takes place every third Wednesday of November, as part of the National Geographic Society's Geography Awareness Week. GIS Day’s main focus is on educating the public about geographic information systems (GIS) technologies and how they are being used to solve issues dealing with safety, environment, efficiency, and economic impact of financial markets around the world.
